I started this book with a little skepticism but just kept reading and loved it by the end. This author was a really good story teller and writer. The story moves along nicely with a young boy as the hero. It has some battle scenes and a mystery that keeps you reading because you want to solve the mystery. There are some papers hidden in a cabin that tell some shocking thing and even the British want the papers, There is much adventure. Recommended if you like historical books.Product details

Good book
Found the story well written and engaging - didn't want to put it down.
Definitely fiction but well written as to time & place.
I would recommend.
I could not put this book down, I always like stories relative to G. Washington
fiction of course but many historical facts.
Again wanted to get back into History and choose the Revolutionary War and the Constitution to study for personal enrichment!
A short but interesting and fast paced novel that follows a young boy from Philadelphia to Valley forge, where he grows into a heroic rebel soldier fighting for a cause he truly believes in. Then on to the blood soaked fields of Monmouth where he witnessed the death of many dear to him and finishing in the valley of Wyoming in Pennsylvania. A historically accurate account of the times though the story feels fictional from the start.
I love novels about the American Revolution and the Civil Wars. This is an exciting tale that brings twists from England and displays the difference between a colonial and loyalist heart.
If you like this period of history, you will probably enjoy the book. I think it was written in the late 1800's, thus it was free (public domain). The plot is maybe a tad contrived, too fantastic, but told well enough as to not be so obvious. All in all, especially if you enjoy background for this period of history, a good read.
