Outlaw A Dark Fantasy Novel On the Bones of Gods K Eason 9781503935907 Books

I have really enjoyed reading K. Eason's book 1 and book 2 in the On the Bones of Gods series. First of all the author's writing style is refreshingly different. Maybe I should not call this style. The way she presents the thoughts and dialogue of her characters is individual to each character and helps to define that character's persona. A lot of different cultures and that mixed with magic and witchcraft and god sworn powers.
Absolutely worth your time as you will not be able to stop for fresh coffee. (Ok I lied about that.) fresh hot coffee just helps the story keep on moving in my brain. But that is about all I could stop for and then get right back to the book.

Those of you overly critical in your literary nature may not feel the way I did about this "style" of writing. I like to be shown new creative ways of getting the story told. in my opinion you should try this one.

Outlaw A Dark Fantasy Novel On the Bones of Gods K Eason 9781503935907 Books Reviews

K. Eason has created a world where I would be in terror were I an inhabitant. And in spite of that, I truly would relish being that world, watching these incredible events unfold. Eason gives a chance to see history being made by a small, but worthy band, of people walking bravely/foolishly/willingly into a future they seem to know they can't win against.

One doesn't read fantasy this well-crafted very often these days. Eason's storytelling is rich, vibrant, and downright real for all that it is a fantasy. I love the edge she gives her words. She tells this story in the language of her characters, and fewer than 100 words in, you're captured/captive/captivated, yeah?
I don't usually read books in this genre, but this is one terrific book! As good as the first in what I hope will be a fairly lengthy series. It is easy to care very much about theses characters. I disagree with the reviewers that were put off by the italicized break in the characters thoughts. I found it a little mystifying the first several times until I realized what the author was doing. I think Mrs. Eason has developed a unique and effective technique with this process and I like it very much.
My only complaint is that I will have to wait for her to write the third novel and I don't want to wait. Please hurry Mrs. Eason!
Continuing the adventures detailed in the first book, Outlaw delivers thrills, intrigue and suspense. Snow's evolving into quite the powerhouse, along with her allies Veiko, Dek, Istel, each of whom grow more into their roles and their characters. Tested over and over, against gods, mortals and magic, they share, through Briel, a really captivating adventure. While the book can be confusing at times with references not fully explained and sometimes characters making choices that seem weird or only made to advance the plot in ways only later evident, it is still very well put together and worth the read. The first book, Enemy, is a must read before this, otherwise it will only leave the reader even more confused.
No other author writes with this style. It takes some getting used to but once you are aware of the intricacies of how the characters talk and think, hold on to for a great ride. I pre-ordered book two after finishing book one which equally interesting, and will look forward to book three!

This story has a very strong female lead who can conjure fire and hide in shadows but this is not a "witch" story. There are battles against evil, and there is political posturing and even some interesting romance but the story is about the characters and building friendships where none existed in this very different world build by this author.
This book was a complex story , multi character, and layers.
The Question I asked myself repeatly was who was the true outlaw?
You have the noble men of high birth as well as the low class.
Both sides fighting against each other, and having secrets . Treacery, murders, and lies--
In the end who would be victorius? Who would people trust?

The author said it best,"Children imagined that things would turn
out well simply because of the people involved.
Virtue and Honor would triumph. Cowards
would fail.."

I appreciate the writing style of this writer-- this was an interesting read.
Don't do a lot of reviews on books I read but felt it was appropriate here. I obtained the first book (Enemy) via the kindle monthly free book. Once I read it, I went ahead and pre-purchased the 2nd (this one - Outlaw). Overall - very well written, well developed characters which I have become "fully invested" in at this point and now must wait until the next one to find out what happens to them. Was pleasantly surprised and recommend this as a good read to anyone interested in a different type of fantasy read.
A gripping, pulse pounding story weaved together by a master storyteller. An intriguing, well balanced, tale of loyalty, betrayal, friendship, and trust, male and female relationships, well done. A satisfying creative blend of men, women, animals, magical and fantastic creatures as well as gods, beings, who are created and existing in a multi layered world full of adventure, political intrigue and deception. An encompassing, fully engrossing story that has captured my imagination and sincere interest in following this group of misfits, and the human relationship dynamics between all of these characters, and the continued challenges. Great book, stellar cast of characters, I can't wait to read more in this series! Thank you K.Eason for a great ride, please continue!
